Job Summary

REMA TIP TOP North America Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, creative Technologist to lead our efforts in developing and scaling up our next generation of solutions. This individual will be responsible for the development, process development and scale-up of REMA TIP TOP’s products. The candidate is also responsible for the evaluation and implementation of formulation and process improvements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for defining and implementing process improvements within our manufacturing sites.

Another aspect of the individual’s responsibility is to work with sourcing and the supply chain to identify and qualify alternate sources for raw materials. The individual must coordinate with sales and marketing as well as with other functions to ensure smooth transitions to new formulations among the customer base and within the manufacturing and sourcing process itself. As the main technologist, the successful candidate will be responsible for assuming formulation, database and IP control of all products, including but not limited to 3rd party solutions. The individual must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment and have strong team management skills.

REMA TIP TOP has a culture of working closely with its customers and it is expected that this individual will work with our customers in a harmonious fashion to define solutions that not only meet, but also exceed the customers’ expectations. The individual may have to provide training at customer sites from time to time and in some cases, participate in field trials with both REMA TIP TOP teams and customers. This candidate will also be expected to represent REMA TIP TOP in a technical capacity at technology and industry specific conferences.

Additionally, the successful individual should be highly organized, detail-oriented, innovative, strategic in approach. It is a given that the individual will also possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. REMA TIP TOP seeks individuals who have experience in both chemical and mechanical processes across a wide range of specialties specifically for the industrial, automotive, energy and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will also have experience in chemical formulations development. The candidate must be comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing settings.

Job Duties
  • Assess current solutions and design or implement the portfolio of next-gen products for REMA TIP TOP to deploy in the energy and automotive markets
  • Use scientific and engineering principles to research, develop, and scale-up new chemical products that encompass solvent and water-based systems as well as 100% solid mixtures
  • Assess, design and implement process improvements in existing manufacturing processes focused on improving efficiency, cost-savings, or safety with potential for increased throughput
  • Benchmark current solutions and implement alternative solutions to existing problems. Issue/ maintain formulations & mixing / quality control specifications of all formulations
  • Issue / maintain raw material specification for raw materials and toll mixed compounds
  • Support operations when needed to address quality concerns, materials sourcing challenges, or process issues. Responsible for further development, operation and maintenance of R&D lab
  • Responsible for setting up process for the procuring of and maintenance of necessary laboratory equipment to conduct research and development. Including but not limited to production test equipment if necessary
  • Champion safe working practices and implement better safety protocols where needed
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science
  • The candidate should possess at least five years of related work experience in research and development, process scale-up and manufacturing. The successful individual should also have experience managing a small team of technicians and/or engineers and have a track record of working successfully across multiple functions
  • The candidate must have a proven track record of success with regards to product and process development as well as new product introduction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • A highly organized, creative, innovative, analytical and strategic thinker
  • Sound decision making skills and adept at problem solving
  • Willingness to adhere to safety standards and wear Personal Protective Equipment, when appropriate
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Some light travel may be required
  • The position is located in the Southeastern region of United States
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish or German), preferred but not required
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment background check and drug screen required
