Manufacturing Safety & Compliance Manager

Job Summary:
REMA TIP TOP/North America Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Manufacturing Compliance & Safety Manager – East Coast region to join our team at our Madison, GA facility. Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or related field and have at least 3-5 years of related work experience in a leadership/management role. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, innovative and strategic; with strong analytical, problem- solving and interpersonal/communication skills.
Job Duties
- This individual will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Company’s Health and Safety program for Manufacturing/Production facility.
- Primary focus areas: Hazcom/GHS, Ergonomics, Housekeeping/Organize Work Areas, Slip, Trip & Fall Hazard Recognition, Bloodborne Pathogens, 1st Aid/CPR, Emergency Action Plans/Fire Safety.
- Secondary focus areas: Confined Space, Fall Protection, Lockout Tagout, Fork Lift, Rigging, Respirator Use/Respirator Fit Test, DOT knowledge.
- Create and maintain accurate Safety Data Sheets
- Assist in matters of compliance –regulatory standards and reporting. EPA reporting and GA Dept of Natural Resources, storm water reporting.
- Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Responsible for new hire site-specific safety orientation, coordination of on-site safety meetings; plans, implements, coordinates and conducts safety training.
- Conduct and document on-site safety audits. Perform inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management and works with Workers Compensation cases.
- Promoting proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Ensuring OSHA regulations, safety policies and procedures are being followed.
- Establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures, monitoring safety metrics, supporting and coaching supervisors and employees.
- Providing feedback to encourage learning, monitoring safety compliance and creating awareness and setting priorities that focus on continuous improvement.
- Advises management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- Assist in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Maintain effective communication with other members of the Safety Department, Maintenance Department and Human Resources Department.
- Work closely with facility management in optimizing opportunities to reduce risks.
- Job Safety Analysis and make recommendations for correction.
- Some domestic travel required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health & Safety or related field.
- 3-5 years of related experience in a leadership/management role, preferably in Manufacturing.
- One or more of the following credentials: Authorized OSHA Trainer, Certified Safety Professional (BCSP), Associate Safety Professional (BCSP), Safety Management Specialist (BCSP) and/or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technologist (BCSP)
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
- MSHA knowledge/background preferred, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead and teach.
- Influential, ability to motivate and direct the safety culture of the organization.
- A highly organized; innovative, analytical and critical & strategic thinker.
- Results-oriented leader with sound decision making skills and adept at problem solving.
- Adept in creating training materials and presentations.
- Willingness to adhere to safety standards and wear Personal Protective Equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Some travel required.
